The H.B. Sale factory was a die-caster. Known locally as the 'Red Palace' it is now a Syrian/Lebanese restaurant but mostly empty. It is a great example of Birmingham teracotta architecture.

Set around historic Chamberlain Square, Madin originally designed the library as one part of a grand civic centre, to also include a School of Music, Drama Centre, Athletic Institute, offices, shops and a pub. Only the library, the School of Music and the pub were ever completed.
