Using a Polarising Filter in Photography

A polariser, an adjustable filter for SLR/DSLR camera lens can be the most useful and interesting piece of kit to add to your photography stuff. Here Daniel takes a mad mishmash of shapes and colours reflected in the windows of Symphony Hall. His polariser was able to adjust the way the windows were refelecting.

An Independent Film Made in Birmingham

A fully independent feature film has been made in the city by resident director John Humphreys, a film noir European style movie featuring Skakespeare's skull and a dark curse. Shot entirley in Birmingham and Warwickshire it has beautiful cinematography, emotive acting and a chilling soundtrack. The film will be release for free online at the soltice sunrise on 21st June.

The City in the Trees

The Birmingham skyline seen from Clent Hill (roughly 7 miles away), taken by Daniel Sturley fully maually with a Canon 60D digital SLR with a 300mm lens on a tripod, using a 2 second delayed shutter release with settings at F5.6 aperture, ISO film speed at 100 and 1/640th of a second exposure. The resolution of the master image is 18mpx.
